The Manna Resort’s vast grounds are very exposed to the sun and therefore requires plenty of irrigation.
Due to the rocky subsoil, a traditional buried rainwater tank was out of the question because of the cost.
Excavation in rocky terrain is time consuming and expensive.
Enormous quantities of rainwater are needed to irrigate the grounds.
Therefore, a standard rainwater tank would be insufficient.
Plants are very important because they foster the hotel guests’ well-being.
ClimaGrün solved several problems for the Manna Resort project in one go.
A thin water storage layer was installed underneath the green roof on the hotel’s main roof.
The thin water storage layer with a capacity of 80 m³ made a rainwater tank on the ground unnecessary.
A large variety of plants boosts evaporation and subsurface irrigation keeps them well watered.
ClimaGrün collaborated with the architects, planners, and the client to achieve an excellent result.
Large quantities of drinking water are saved and natural water supplies conserved.
Guests can enjoy the superb grounds that feature native plants. These areas are irrigated with rainwater and evaporative cooling in summer creates a pleasant climate.
No excavation in rocky terrain nor an investment in a rainwater tank is required.
Annual costs for drinking water and electricity are cut (because no high-capacity pumps are needed).
